PROF.GEORGI SPASSOV FLUTE

Georgi Spassov is one of the most outstanding contemporary Bulgarian instrumentalists distinguished for his great talent. After receiving his Master’s Degree at the Bulgarian National Music Academy he specialized in Zaltzburg with some eminent muzitions like K.H. Zoller and Aurel Nikole and later with J. P. Rampal and Alain Marion at the National Conservatoire in Paris, and the Summer Academy in Nice.

For 30 years Georgi Spassov is the principal flute of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and Professor at the Bulgarian State Conservatoire. Many significant talents with international career are among his student. He has been the first and only Bulgarian ever invited to take part in First and Second Symposia of the flutists from all over the world, where his creative and pedagogic achievements were highly appreciated. He is an honored jury of the most prestigious National flute competitions as well as of many International ones.

He has assisted famous Professor Andras Adorjan during the master classes at the Varna Summer Music Festival and the March Music Days Music Festival in 1990 and 1992 and every year he has lead numerous master classes in Bulgaria, Cuba, Japan, Sought Korea and others. Laureate from many National and International Competitions his repertoire ranges over a large variety of compositions from all styles and epochs.

As instrumentalist he has successful toured a number of countries in the world. Many of his recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio and for the National TV are in the Golden Fond collection. He has also many recordings for the French National Radio and Television, for Radio Budapest and many others. His high professional achievements have been honored with the Golden Lira Prize of the National Music and Dance Artists Association.

Professor Ayla Uludere – flute

Prof. Uludere was born in 1970, Haskovo, Bulgaria. Prof. Uludere begins her music journey after being accepted as a member of the choir in her hometown at the age of nine. In the same year, she started to study piano and continued her studies as a flutist, in the class of Neli Angelova, a solo flutist in The Symphonic Orchestra of Haskovo.
At the age of thirteen, Prof. Uludere started her secondary-level studies at the High school of Science in Haskovo. The following year, she applied to Hristina Morfova Music Highschool in the city of Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. In 1989, she successfully graduated from high school. The same year, the quintet, which she was a member of, become the winner in the National Competition of Chamber Music “Golden Diana” in the city of Yambol.
After her graduation, she got into the Kurdzhali Symphonic Orchestra which performed her first orchestra soloist performance with Vivaldi’s flute Concerto in F major, under the guide of Maestro Ambrosio di Palma in 1990.
On the 10th of December 1990, she and her family emigrated to Istanbul, Turkey. Prof. Uludere, applied and is admitted to The State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, and joined the flute class of national artist Prof. Mukkerem Berk. She completed her undergraduate degree in three years with second-degree success. In the summer of 1993, she won a scholarship for the Masterclass of Prof. Cristian Larde in Nizza, France.
After her graduation, she started lecturing at the State Conservatory (1994). The same year she applied for a Master’s Degree, which will be finished in 1998.
In 2001 she wanted to do further research and applied to Doctoral Program at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, and completed her thesis in 2005. Prof. Uludere owns the very first Ph.D. Diploma from the Department of Wind and Percussion Instruments. Prof. Uludere’s academic career began in 1997 as an assistant, and only six years later, she has already been titled an Associate Professor.
Nowadays, she continues her lectures, as a flute professor, at The State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University for twenty-nine years. Prof. Uludere is the second women flute professor in
Turkey and the fourth flute professor in the history of the Republic of Turkey.

Since 2005 Prof. Uludere has taken high administrative positions in the management of the Conservatory as a Co-Director: Chairman of the Preparatory Body (2005), Vice Director for the School Program of all the Departments (Classic Dance, Theatre, Modern dance, Opera, Instrumental, Theoretical, and Musicology) (2005-2011), Executive member in International Councils of ECUME in Damascus, Siria (2009) and Genova, Italy (2010).
Also, she became the winner of the Special Price of the Jury, in the name of Prof. J. Zaharieva, in the International Competition “Music and Earth” in Sofia, Bulgaria (2005).
Prof. Uludere served as the Executive Director of the State Conservatory Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. As Director, she takes part in the Silkroad International Conference in Xi-An, China, where presents the Studying Programs of the Conservatories in Turkey as a representative.
Prof. Uludere was invited as a jury member for the First, Ninth, and Thirteenth International Young Virtuosos Competitions, organized by the National Music School “L.Pipkov” in Sofia, Bulgaria.
She was a member of the Jury at The International Flute Competitions in Monako, in 2014; in Nice,
France, in 2018; for the Sixth and Eighth organized by the Association a Travers La Flute.
Prof. Uludere was a jury member in the International Flute Competition “Marsyas Uluslararası Flüt Yarışması” five times, from 2016 to 2020.
Also, she was invited as a jury for the International Flute Competition, organized by the European Music Academy in Varna, Bulgaria.
Till 2017 prof. Uludere organizes thirteen times an Intl. Master Flute Class in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2011 she has Master’s classes in Halep and Damascus, Siria. In 2017 and 2018 she is invited to make Master classes under the guidance of ICMAF ( International Ceşme Music Academy and Festival), in Cesme, Izmir, Turkey. In 2018, during the Intl. Festival she presents the Vivaldi Concerto for 2 flutes together with her affirmed student Beste Ali with the “Camerata Saygun” orchestra. In 2019 prof. Uludere is invited to a Master’s class from the Music Academy AIMA in the city of Ayvalik. She performs a concert with her Istanbul Flute Orchestra.
Besides her academic career, she performed in the most prestigious concert halls in Istanbul and
Turkey. Prof. Uludere was often invited as a guest – soloist to perform with the Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, The State Orchestra of Antalya, The Presidential State Symphony Orchestra (Cyprus), and The Akbank Symphony Orchestra.
Prof Uludere is the founder of the Trio Pan chamber music group, which she performed in Turkey and abroad. Also, she is an active member of Ensemble Sonare, Academic Trio, and Trio Mimar Sinan.

In 2010, on the occasion of the National Republican Holiday Prof. Uludere and Prof. Aygül Günaltay (piano) are invited to Bangkok, Thailand where they perform works of Turkish composers. They performed Elif dedim, be dedim International premiere, composed by Hasan Uçarsu for the special event.
Other works, composed and dedicated to Prof. Uludere are “Raining” (2014), by Sercan Buyukedes, the first performance held in Istanbul. “Music for two flutes and piano” (2014) by Erdem Cologlu, was also performed for the first time in Istanbul. Concert – Fantasia” (2015) by Angel Kotev, performed and recorded by Trio Pan in Sofia, Bulgaria; “Shadows of the Wind” (2015) by Ozkan Manav and “Sea Without Isles” (2017) by Hasan Ucarsu, performed by Prof. Uludere at the Jury’s concert during the Young Virtuosos International Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In 2015, together with Prof. Ece Karshal and Sebnem Usen, Prof. Uludere established Istanbul Flute Ensemble. The ensemble is unique as including all flute families: piccolo, flute, alto flute, bass, and double bass flute. The Istanbul Flute Ensemble takes part in both National and International Festivals, performing classic and modern Turkish works, some of them composed especially for the ensemble. They performed in Istanbul CRR, CKM, Robert College, Yeldegirmeni Culture Center, Turkan Saylan Culture Center, and other famous concert halls. The orchestra performed in Eskisehir, Bursa, Konya, TR; Washington, USA, “Bulgaria Hall”, Sofia, BG; Poland, The Netherlands, etc.
With twenty-nine years of teaching experience, Prof. Uludere used to be the Head of the Department of Musicology (2017), and the Opera department (2018 – 2019) at the State Conservatory Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul, Turkey. From 2005 to nowadays she is Head of the Department of Wind and Percussion Instruments c/o the same Conservatory.
